Announcement

In Hungary, the positive answer to the question of Christianity and homosexuality has been primarily connected to the Five Loaves Community in the past ten years. The community, born on 1st August, 1996, didn’t only function as a closed prayer group but it also tried to transmit its message in various ways, simple yet hard to accept for many: God’s love does not depend on sexual orientation. Its functioning was accompanied by public services, statements against discrimination and media appearances – and not in the last place, a website at www.otkenyer.hu, providing a multitude of news, articles, essays and studies related to the topic.

We think that, by our work of ten years, we have made a way viable for those succeeding us. From now on, gay Christian organizations in Hungary can move to a new stage: the Five Loaves Community – as the only gay Christian community in Hungary so far – has ceased. We hope that its function will be taken over by several prayer groups, communities or congregations with different profiles.

The Association still thriving under the name “Five Loaves” intends to concentrate its activity on the collection and transmission of information, most of all the maintenance and development of the website.
